Histological Study on Formation of Median Palatine Suture of the Mouse Cranium

Abstract
In order to clarify the histological characterization in suture, the forming process in the median palatine suture of the mouse was examined histologically with light microscope. For this study, forty eight ICR mice of the 3, 5, 10 and 20 days
of
age
were used.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1. The anterior region of mouse median palatine suture was formed in two steps-cell aggreagation and the formation of collagen fiber bundles.
2. Formation of the posterior region took place in four steps-cell aggregation, the appearance of secondary cartilage cells, synchondrosis and gradual ossification of the secondary cartilage.
3. The cellular condensation seemed to play the role of blastema in suture formation.
4. The main components of these two regions were collagen fiber bundles in anterior region and secondary cartilage in the posterior region.
